9 benefits of acupuncture for your health
Acupuncture is one of the oldest therapies in the world and is recognised today by the WHO. These are the nine benefits we see most often in consultations.
Acupuncture, together with acupressure and Tui Na massage, is part of the Traditional Chinese Medicine system, a body of knowledge developed over more than two thousand years and now recognised by the World Health Organization for the treatment of dozens of conditions.
The nine benefits we see most in consultations
- Reduction of chronic pain: lower back, neck, joints and migraine.
- Relief of stress and anxiety, with an effect noticed from the very first sessions.
- Improved sleep quality and fewer sleepless nights.
- Regulation of the digestive system: constipation, irritable bowel, slow digestion.
- Support for hormonal imbalances, including PMS, menopause and fertility.
- Strengthening of the immune system.
- Faster recovery after sports injuries.
- Support in quitting smoking and in appetite control.
- An overall sense of vitality and better circulation of vital energy (Qi).
How it works
We do not use needles at Ponto de Luz: we work with acupressure and Tui Na massage, which stimulate the same points through manual pressure. It is an approach well suited to those who are wary of needles, to pregnant women and to children.
How many sessions?
Acute situations (a muscle contracture, an occasional migraine) can be resolved in one to three sessions. Chronic issues benefit from a longer cycle, usually six to ten weekly sessions.
